UAW Local 5810 is the Union chosen by a majority of the 6,000 Postdoctoral Researchers at the University of California. Through the Union we bargain collectively for improvements in wages, hours, benefits, and terms and conditions of employment.

Project Synapse

UCLA Neuroscience Postdoctoral Scholars are invited to join Project Synapse, a postdoctoral group sponsored by the UCLA Brain Research Institute. Project Synapse offers a strong network of colleagues, career development workshops, and opportunities to participate in K-12 outreach and teaching activities. Members participate in ongoing visits to local Los Angeles K-12 schools to teach and inspire interest in Neuroscience, higher education, and STEM careers. The group meets monthly.

Advancing Women in Science and Engineering (AWiSE)

The AWiSE program was created by UCLA graduate students in response to the observation that, while women comprise a significant percent of the student population in science and engineering graduate programs, they are underrepresented in leadership roles in academia and industry. AWiSE aims to provide a forum for candid conversations to address these concerns and offer training, education, and mentorship to encourage graduates who enter the professional sector to value diversity and its impact on innovation and ultimately break down existing gender barriers. Postdocs are welcome to join.
