UCLA postdocs talking to the public at Nerd Nite

In today’s environment of flat-line budgets for research and increased public skepticism, it is increasingly important for those of us in the ivory tower to really think about how to best communicate the importance of our work to the general public. The Outreach Committee encourages development of this skill among UCLA postdocs.

Our main activity is a collaboration with a community event called Nerd Nite. This monthly event features fun talks tailored for a general audience and presented in a relaxed and casual atmosphere.
